Job Skills: Some of the responsibilities of the position include:

Promotes sales of all Neogen products to assigned distributors while building long term strategic business relationships.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Sells Neogen products by optimizing the channel sales performance, through increased support and field face time to distribution sales reps, including: telecenter trainings, sales blitz, and program launches.

Makes presentations and trains distributor sales force (inside and outside) on Neogen and the products.

Assists DAEs and marketing in planning and implementation of marketing plans and promotions.

Represents company and analyzes industry trade shows and meetings to: (1) promote products and services; (2) increase market and competitive knowledge; and (3) identify new products for distribution.

Calls on distributors by telephone, e-mail, fax and in person and informs them of new and existing products and explains characteristics and benefits.

Communicates with existing customer base on a consistent basis to: (1) monitor customer satisfaction; (2) resolve customer problems and concerns; and (3) monitor competitive position.
Develops sales plans (Sales Plan of Action) and strategies to penetrate new markets and increase market share and profitability of territory. Working with DAE & TMs.

Makes a minimum of 200 documented sales contacts and 30 distributor touches per month. Reports must be turned in monthly.

Develops and maintains lists of distributor sales representatives, territory managers, and telecenter locations. Include telecenter managers in the monthly file.

Meets or exceeds budgeted sales revenues.
Completes field sales reports.

Responsible for promoting monthly specials and call the inside and outside reps to detail specials.

Quotes approved prices and persuades prospects and customers to buy, where applicable.

Works with communications department and other members of the sales team to develop marketing ideas.

Secures, records, and places distributor orders. Arranges shipping and delivery details as required.

Supports sales efforts of other sales staff members as part of the team.

Documents customer questions and answers.

Documents product requests by customers or potential clients.

Conducts market analysis and research as needed.
Reads industry publications to keep abreast of industry; shares articles of interest with organization.

Participates in annual budgeting process.

Analyzes and controls expenditures to conform to budgetary requirements.

Participates in the resolution of customer billing or collection problems.

Operates office machines such as computer, facsimile, copier and adding machine.

Copies data and compiles records and reports on sales activities. Records names, addresses, purchases, and reactions of customers and prospects solicited in CRM software program.

Job Skills: Some of the responsibilities of the position include:

Performing Laboratory tasks for purposes of quality control, quality assurance, process control, or technology transfer by performing the following duties.

Tests samples of ELISA test kits, their components and substrates to verify conformity to specifications, whether manufactured in-house or manufactured elsewhere and distributed. Such tasks include conjugate, standard, control and calibrator preparation and evaluation, substrate release-testing, stock reagent evaluations, plate batch sampling and specialty kit testing.

Records test results on standardized forms and writes test reports describing procedures used.

Perform tests on critical raw materials to qualify new lots before use in manufacturing.

Participates in inventory counts on stock reagents and supplies.

Calculates and summarizes data using scientific equations and spreadsheet software including Excel, and SigmaPlot.

Sets up, adjusts and operates laboratory equipment and instruments including but not limited to a centrifuge, analytical balance, top-loading balance, pH meter, lyophilizer, spectrophotometer, plate reader, plate coater, plate washer, and micropipettes.

Performs performance checks on laboratory instruments as required by Quality Control Manager.

Prepares chemical solutions according to standard formulas.

Participates in quality management system requirements including following departmental work instructions, creating records, document control and addressing corrective and preventative actions.

Performs quality audits on procedures, as well as on documents being used to perform these procedures.

Selects samples for tests at specified stages in production process, and tests samples for variety of qualities such as performance specifications and chemical characteristics.

Maintain retention storage of all raw materials and finished products

Participates in technology transfer of new products from R&D or OEM.

Sets up and performs studies on materials, components, or products to measure performance, shelf life, or product characteristics.

Assists in troubleshooting technical problems with products. Conducts investigation as appropriate.

Performs QA/QC projects, such as cross-reactivity studies, product enhancements or improvement and shelf life evaluation, with limited supervision.

Participates in efforts to control costs.

Follows safety procedures and company policies.

INVENTORY CONTROL
Process work orders in a timely manner, as required.
Work with production manager, buyers and sales to ensure and communicate product availability.

Actively participate in physical inventory; conduct physical inventories of raw materials, Work in Process items, and supplies.

Cleans and maintains work areas and equipment used in daily manufacturing duties.
Produces and packages plates approved by QC Department.
Measures, dispenses, and packages reagents according to needs of manufacturing.
Produces labels and labels product or product components.
Prepares products for shipping out to customers.
Maintains inventories of kits, kit components, raw materials, and supplies.
Assists with picking and packing orders according to packing lists provided.
Works at different work stations as manufacturing needs require.
Completes and maintain necessary manufacturing records.
Inspects finished product and product components to ensure conformity.
Assists with identifying areas to improve efficiency.
Participates in efforts to control costs.
Follows written work instructions, safety procedures, and company policies.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Associates Degree or equivalent experience, preferred.

Job Skills: Plans, organizes and controls marketing projects for the Lexington Diagnostic product line to optimize market penetration and profit.

Coordinates/assists the development of Diagnostic marketing materials, product inserts, price lists, technical literature, labels, product packaging and miscellaneous projects as delegated by the Diagnostics Marketing Manager and/or Director of Diagnostic Sales. The layout and design of projects will be coordinated with the Communications Coordinator in Lexington and/or the Communications Manager (Lansing).

Coordinates advertising and promotional efforts.

Monitors and analyzes financial, technological, and demographic factors in the market.

Assist with establishing marketing goals

Prepares training materials and executes product training to sales personnel.

Assists in development of marketing plans and competitive analysis.

Responsible for creating, conducting and analyzing data from annual customer satisfaction survey.

Identify and make recommendations on mail and prospect lists.

Read industry publications to keep abreast of industry; share articles of interest.

Responsible for quarterly inventory counts of Diagnostic sales literature.

Coordinate with the Communications Coordinator (Lexington) and the Communications Manager (Lansing) to insure uniform programs are being utilized for marketing projects.

Responsible for updating the Communications Manager on changes to the web page for the Diagnostic products.

Evaluates reactions to advertising, promotions, programs, packaging and formulation through marketing surveys when appropriate, to ensure timely adjustment of marketing strategy.

Participates in sales activities with all sales groups.

Technical Customer Service (35% Time): Managing customer complaints, customer questions, automated Equipment Support, and misc. Technical Service projects.

Sales & Marketing Support (25% Time): Assists with writing, reviewing, updating or overseeing the production of product literature. Participate in marketing plans and strategies to penetrate new markets and increase growth and profitability in current markets. Attends trade shows as backup for sales staff, when necessary and attend industry conferences to learn more about the related industry and markets. Assists Sales & Technical Service Manager, Director of Diagnostic Sales and sales staff when developing and conducting market analysis and research projects.

Laboratory Work, Product Development (25% Time): Conduct product comparisons that can be used as selling tools for the sales department. Participates in shelf life studies on drug detection and life science products. Conduct studies on extraction procedures for the test kits and generate support data. Conduct product development projects. Lead person responsible for setting up kit and substrate evaluations for end users. Conduct validation work using human and/or animal samples to support the use of the diagnostic products at the designated sensitivity/cutoff levels using both manual and automated methods. Some of these validations to include work with human biohazard samples. The Hepatitis B vaccination is a requirement for all individuals working with these sample types.

Training (10% Time): Train new diagnostic sales employees on the history of the products, how the products are produced and how the products work. Provide ongoing training for existing employees on current technologies and products. Be able to determine potential cross reactivity by comparing drug chemical structures. Works with the R & D staff and Sales & Technical Service Manager to organize and conduct employee training on new products, improved products or changes to existing products.

Assists in evaluating the new market applications for test kits and equipment. Assists in the identification, market evaluation and prioritization of products for development, distribution or OEM to widen product line offering. Lead on creating and writing New Product Planning Manuals for new diagnostic products.


Education and/or Experience:
Bachelors in biology, chemistry, pharmacology or immunology or 2 equivalent years of experience with ELISA diagnostics. Experience in the forensic toxicology field preferred. At least 3 years of in-house or market experience is required to hold position.
Excellent decision making and troubleshooting skills; very limited assistance required from supervisor.

Ability to interface with management on appropriateness of potential products and market applications.
